Tornado Destroyed House
On the night of March 18th, my moms house was hit by a horrible tornado in South Bend, TX. It completely took the entire roof off of the home, both the front and back porches are gone, and they’ve lost everything. The were so lucky to get out unharmed.
A quick back story on our home, my mom and step dad purchased a 1930s gas station located right on the Brazos River about 5 years ago. They spent 2 of those years living in a camping trailer and completely renovating it into their dream home. Not only do we consider this home, but it really is a magical place. We welcome people to come fish and enjoy our little piece of paradise with us, my mom had plans to even put a glamping tent up so that people could stay overnight at the river. We kids are grown with families of our own now, but to us the River Station will always be our home.
The front part of the tin roof was ripped off and along with the insulation and it also damaged all their electrical. They have been generously donated a large storage container to use for the next 3 months to help keep their items clean and dry! We are hoping we can help get them started on fixing all the damage as soon as possible so that they can get it all fixed within the 3 months that they have the container! They did not have insurance, so this is very hard. They are planning on doing all the work themselves with the help of volunteers as well! Again they did not have insurance so truly every donation is such a blessing!
My parents are good people that have been dealt an extremely bad hand. My mom is a nurse and has been one for over 20 years, she’s one of the most amazing people you’ll ever meat. They’re good people and with everything going on with the COVID-19 virus and literally losing the roof over their headsin a matter of minutes has been a major curve ball. My sister and I are asking our community to help them. Anything is going to help them get back on their feet. Thank you so much for any and all donations.
