Caiden's Wheels

Hello Family & Friends!

>>> Great News <<<  Fox Carolina did a beautiful story on Caiden!  A special thank you to Amber Worthy for your thoughtful coverage! Also, thank you all who have already donated and sharing his story!  https://www.foxcarolina.com/family-in-need-of-adaptive-van-for-son-with-disabilities/video_313963e9-3b44-5376-9665-8e01b6eb9c43.html

Over the last three and a half years, we have been on a beautiful yet challenging journey raising our adopted son Caiden.  After nearly suffocating at birth from a lack of oxygen, Caiden suffered a series of seizures and as a result was left with a severely damaged brain resulting in cerebral palsy spastic quadriplegia, microcephaly, and a severe seizure disorder called Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.

Doctors gave us little hope and predicted Caiden would have a poor quality of life in a bed-bound vegetative state. But God gave Caiden a fighting spirit that knows no odds! Our little fighter has made amazing strides with intensive therapy and now walks with an assistive device. Caiden has a spunky personality and finds ways to get what he wants despite not being able to talk or move without assistance! See for yourself in this video link! (Laughter is the Best Medicine) and (Apollo Choo Choo)!

Despite insurmountable odds, Caiden not only survives, he thrives! Although he requires a lot of assistance, Caiden spreads joy wherever he goes, reminding all how precious life is and how to enjoy every moment despite its obstacles. As his chosen parents, we feel compelled to give him every opportunity to experience joy to the fullest. We now ask you to partner with us to help provide Caiden with the resources he needs to access the best life possible!

Our biggest challenge has become transportation. Caiden has been fitted for his first official wheel chair. Now, he needs a van with a side entry ramp to accommodate the wheelchair.  Currently, we must lift 30-pound Caiden and his 60-pound special stroller in and out of our Honda Odyssey to travel. We have tried to convert our existing van but disability manufacturers no longer service “older body styles”—assembly lines have been switched to the latest 2018/2019 models. Additionally, federal grants only apply to new equipment.

So, we are reaching out to you to help in the purchase of a used 2016 Honda Odyssey with a side-ramp already installed. The cost is around $50,000.  We have been working with our local Mobility Works dealer here in Greenville and have been able to source several low-mileage vans.  This support will tremendously help Caiden and our quality of life for years to come.  And if a donation is not possible for you at this time, please say a prayer for Caiden and spread the word about this fundraiser to all your family, friends, coworkers and communities.

May the Lord bless you with all the joy life has to offer!
