Angela Ray Canady's Medical Bills

Donation protected

On January 10th of this year my sister, Angela Canady was referred to have an MRI at JMH due to persisting and ongoing migraines that she had been having. Once there, the hospital began by doing a head CT. With just the Head CT, they were able to see that Angela had a brain tumor the size of a small orange in the back right hand side of her brain. She was then immediately transferred to Duke Hospital, as JMH was not equipped to care for her in the manner that she needed. She was told she had to be transported due to the extreme risk of seizure that she had because of the pressure the tumor was causing to the rest of her brain.

Once at Duke a second MRI was done, along with a full body scan to see if there were any more tumors or additional cancer throughout her body. By the grace of God there was not. Angela was hospitalized at Duke until they were able to get her into the operating room on Friday the 13th.

On Jan 13th they took Angela into surgery and removed her brain tumor. She was released the next day. And about a week later, we were told that she was diagnosed with a Grade III Anaplastic Astrocytoma. She was seen by her Oncologist the following day and was told that she had terminal brain cancer.

Angela began the long road of treatment. Her treatment was 6 weeks of radiation and chemotherapy. She was given her chemo in a pill form to be taken everyday. This started on Feb. 7th. She also started the daily trips to Duke Cancer Center to begin her radiation. So since Feb. 7th Angela has been making the trip to Durham daily to receive her radiation. She has been sick and lost her hair in the process. But no matter what she has gone through, she has kept her smile and her only concern has been to fight her diagnosis with all she has. Angela has two children, both under the age of 16 that she is determined to finish watch grow up.

Because of Angela's daily treatment she has been unable to work since first hospitalized on Jan 10th. Her family has sacrificed everything that they can to help pay their daily living bills along with her medical bills.

As her sister, she has shown me what real bravery looks like. If any of you have anything that you can spare to help her, please give a donation!! We all need a little help sometimes, especially if the unthinkable happens. Thank you so very much!!!
