Steven's Family Fundraiser

On the 26th May 2020 little Jack Stevens was diagnosed with a very rare form of leukemia, he was only weeks away from his 3rd birthday. As the youngest son of Gary and Louise Stevens who coaches at Rockingham City FC, and has a very impressive previous playing history himself for England, Everton, Rangers and Tranmere. Jack is also younger brother to Joshua and Oliver who both play at our RCFC. Jack started treatment the very next day to prepare for his stem cell transplant which finally happened in September 2020.

 

Jack and Louise didn’t return home until the week of Christmas, during the 7 months of treatment they had only approximately 3 weeks in total out of hospital to be together as family. The remainder spent separated, at Perth Children’s hospital, and following the transplant, in recovery near the hospital. Louise stayed most days with him, and Gary swapped on weekends to see Jack and to allow Louise to see their other two boys. This has meant Louise cannot work and Gary has reduced his hours significantly to navigate the load of parenting the boys solo.

 

The generosity of the local and international community kept them afloat financially, emotionally and practically last year and the family were incredibly grateful. They thought Jack was well on the road to recovery and that they could start to enjoy their boys and family time again, and find a way to pay all the kindness forward, and plan for Jack starting school and both Louise and Gary return to work.

 

However, Jack has devastatingly just relapsed and the family have had to embark on the arduous treatment regime once again to get him transplant ready. Our club network is doing what we can and are now asking for your support to help the Stevens family and if you cant, then please share this link.
