Water Well in Gaza

Donation protected

One of the biggest challenges the displaced people in Rafah, Khan Yunus and all across Gaza Strip face now during the war, is water. Whether it's clean drinking water or water for daily uses, it's a struggle. People need to go search for water for hours, many times only to turn back empty handed.

We can't really help with clean drinking water, as it needs more complicated filtering and treatment plans. But we can help with water for daily usage.

There are wells all across Gaza with water pumps that function with electricity. As you know, there is no electricity in Gaza now and the fuel to run the emergency generators is rare to find and super expensive.

So we've decided to get help from the nature and you. We will set solar panels for one well in Gaza so that everyone can benefit from it. This well belongs to a very giving and helpful man who has been letting people take water from it anytime they wanted, before the war. Now that the water pumps are not running, no one is able to benefit from it.

A common water pump for a well in Gaza requires 5 kwh electricity. Biggest solar panels sold in Gaza are 660 w/h. Which means we need at least 6 of these panels. Additionally we need batteries to make up for the rest of the wattage. At least 4 of 200 a/h batteries. Finally a system box/inverter/controller.

Each of the panels cost around 4000 shekels. 6 of these would make around 24,000 shekels, which is $6,400. Each of the batteries also cost from 2,000 to 2,500 shekels. 4 is needed, which adds up to 10,000 shekels, $2,600. The system box costs around 5,300 shekels, $1,400.

All and all the whole system to make the well up and running will cost no less than $11-12k. We need to keep in mind that these materials are much harder and more expensive to find during the war. So we are setting a campaign of $15k to make sure we don't run low on money, in case the prices exceed our calculations. If there is any money left from the well, it will all be distributed to the families in need.

We need your help to make this project come to life. Once the well is up and running, at least, at least 1500 people will benefit from it daily. Probably much more. The summer is coming and a lot of families will suffer without water even for a day. Even when the war is over, the majority of people have lost their homes and will continue living in tents. So the well will be of help and benefit to thousands for a long time.

Please share the link and spread the initiative. Every dollar is counted and well appreciated.

God bless you all.
