Renee's Recovery
Donation protected
September 21st 2020 was like any other day for our sister, Renee Levow. She left for her walk around 2:30 in the afternoon. She walks her 2 German Shepherds several times a day about 2 miles up Rum Springs Rd. This day she was on her way back about 1/2 mile from home when she and the dogs encountered a black bear. The bear swatted at the dogs before turning abruptly on her. Renee and the bear stood face to face before the bear attacked her. He bit her twice in the head, twice in her left leg and clawed her in multiple spots before he let go and took off. Fortunately, Renee had her phone with her and called 911 immediately then her husband Steve. She was taken by ambulance to Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown Md. After evaluating her injuries she was air lifted to The Johns Hopkins Medical for immediate plastic surgery on her facial injuries. After a short stay in the ICU she was released to recuperate at home. She will have various follow up appointments, possibly more surgery and trauma counseling in the upcoming year or so.
Their medical insurance covers 80% of the costs so the 20% is adding up fast. The medivac alone was $28,098. We are asking for help to offset these bills along with the therapy that will be needed for Renee to heal emotionally from this traumatic experience.
Thank you for taking the time to read this request and considering helping out Renee as she recovers from her bear attack. With continued prayers and support of her family and friends we know she will make a full recovery.
All our love,
Jen and Cliff
