Little did we realize when we first heard about Covid-19, that we would be so quickly affected by it's wrath. As we have prepared ourselves to stand side by side and battle this silent enemy, we realized how much we depend on the support and love of our fellow healthcare partners and family. Because of this, we decided to start a group to bring all healthcare workers, public workers, and hospital staff together and help spread as much positive energy as possible in a time of nationwide stress. Just a little over a week ago we started a Facebook page called "Healthcare Heroes" and began using our Cricut to cut out blue hearts to wear on our badges to help unify us all as one team and to remind us that we are and always will be a family.
We chose the color blue for its association with trust, loyalty, dependability and commitment. The color blue provides a constant and calming influence in our world.
What started at 2 local hospitals has spread like wild fire. We created a Facebook group for those workers to post their stories, support, positivity, and most of all pics of how they are displaying their blue hearts! After a week of cutting, packing and delivering blue hearts, we have realized that our mission has become so well-known that we have had requests for hearts throughout the US. This increase in awareness has made us extremely delighted and grateful.
While we have recruited many of our family members to help with production, we have found that the supplies that we use to make our heart packages has become too costly for us 2 to handle on our own. We pride ourselves in making these hearts free of cost but due to the rapid influx of request and people asking us how they can donate we are starting this gofundme. Currently we are asking those who request hearts in areas that we can not hand deliver to pay for shipping ($4). It is our hope that if we receive enough funding that we can eventually provide free shipping.
