Every child deserves a childhood
Hi Everyone!!
On my birthday - 8th June 2022 I will be taking part in a solo charity skydive for to help raise money for Nacoa (National Association for Children of Alcoholics)
Nacoa (The National Association for Children of Alcoholics) is a registered charity (No. 1009143), founded in 1990 to address the needs of children growing up in families where one or both parents suffer from alcoholism or a similar addictive problem. This includes children of all ages, many of whose problems only become apparent in adulthood.
This is a cause very close to my heart and as a child exposed to severe alcoholism and emotional abuse, to have the help of an organisation like Nacoa would have made the world of difference. So I want to give that opportunity to children (of which I’m sure there are plenty, especially since lockdown) to have someone to share their problems with, let them know it’s not their fault and offer support and guidance.
It is so important to offer children who may have been convinced to keep their parents alcoholism a secret due to fear of ‘shame’ or ‘embarrassment’ a helping hand and a shoulder to cry on. No child should hold that burden.
Corona virus has had such a detrimental effect on our mental health and in turn, our alcohol consumption
Alcohol-specific deaths increased by 20% in 2020 (from 5,819 in 2019 to 6,983)
I can only imagine what the children of these parents are going through or went through during lockdown. Please help me, help them get the support I desperately needed.
Let’s gooooo!!!!!
