This page is to help Dane's family in the expenses incurred during his treatment for Bone Cancer. Any donations are appreciated, and we especially appreciate your prayers for Dane and his family. They will have extra expenses due to traveling a hour and a half each way to his Doctor and Chemotherapy appointments in Indianapolis. Also there are the expenses of taking off work due to appointments and all the food and babysitting expenses ect... so they can focus their atttention on Dane and getting him on the path to getting better!
Dane has been diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, but we are still waiting on the full pathology report to find out what type of bone cancer he has. His tumor is on his left femur near the knee. It has grown into his soft tissue in this area.
In November Dane started complaining about knee pain, but we chalked it up to growing pains. On the last day of school before the winter break, I called the doctor's office because he was waking up every night in intense pain and we'd been giving him pain medication regularly for some time.
The pediatrician took x-rays and could see a bone lesion. We then waited (not by choice) till after the holidays to have an MRI, then a chest CT scan and a biopsy.
So this is the information we have for now and we will continue to update so that we can all know what is going on and what we can do to help. It also will help to free up Jeff and Janey's time from answering a lot of people who have the same questions so they can focus their time on Dane.
Any money leftover once Dane is done with treatments will be donated to another child or to a research foundation.
