Eric's Emergency Back Surgery
Donation protected
Hey guys,
As some of you know I had major back surgery in 2021 after I woke up one morning and collapsed on the way to the bathroom. I was unable to move from the waste and down, and was carried to the ambulance by 5 paramedics. I was diagnosed with Cauda Equina Syndrome and was rushed into surgery due to a disc shattering and puncturing my spinal cord and crushing the Cauda Equina nerve group. After my surgery I had to re-learn how to use my right leg and walk again. I was using a walker and crutches for months, and walking with a cane for over 2 years. Last year I began walking without a cane and was able to re-gain feeling and control in my leg. Everything has been fine for the last year until a few weeks ago when my leg suddenly went numb and caused me to collapse while in public with my son. I regained feeling and it has happened multiple times in the last several weeks. I went in for an MRI this week and was told I needed another surgery due to the vertebrae putting more pressure on my spinal cord, which could lead to permanent damage.
I'm looking at $4,000-$5,000 worth of medical bills again and while I have a job, I'm a contractor and don't have medical insurance. The longer I wait for the surgery, the higher the chances are that I'll have permanent nerve damage which would result in needing a cane or crutches permanently. After the last year of helping my parents move and get through their own medical expenses, and recently moving myself, I'm now in between a rock and a hard place financially and would appreciate any help.
I appreciate you.
