Phoenix Needs Surgery!

As soon as Chris and I met this little spaniel mix pup back in June 2023 when he was only 6 months old, we knew he was meant to join our family. He was rescued by the kind people at Marley’s Mutts Dog Rescue in Bakersfield, CA who saved him from a vicious dog attack on the streets that killed his brother and left him injured with a deep bite wound on his neck that became infected. Despite being treated by vets with several rounds of different antibiotics and living most of his life wearing a cone to prevent scratching, the infected dog-bite wound on his neck persists and requires expensive surgical intervention. Since it is on his neck, a critical area with vital organs and tissues, a surgeon’s expert precision is required for a safe surgery. Our pet insurance will not cover any of these expenses as it is for an injury incurred prior to his adoption. We have been doing our best to make sure our sweet boy is healthy and happy, but we need help to afford this surgery that will cost $4000-$5,000. We named him Phoenix because he rose from a terrible, scary life on the streets. Now our funny Phoenix has a mom, dad, and sister who love to play ball, chase, and tug-o-war with him. We would love to take him on more adventures, train him properly, and do more socializing, but he can’t do these things until his injury is healed.
