#TeamBaldwin - Help Shannon Fight
Donation protected
Our dear friend Shannon is courageously fighting cancer... fighiting is not even the word - she is battling, waging war and giving her all in this fight. As her friends and family we are all looking for ways to help her fight. Many have asked how they can help, several specifically have asked how they can provide financial help as the bills, copays, loss of income, etc will begin to add up. We felt that this site would be a simple avenue for those that would like to help in this way.
Here are Shannon's own words on her diagnosis and her fight which she shared on the Team Baldwin page:
Sorry it has taken me a while to post something here. Every time I begin to type, I start crying. To say that we are blown away from all of this is an understatement! Blown away from the diagnosis is one thing, but more importantly we are blown away by the incredible support, prayers, and love as we begin this journey!! I'm speechless! The amazing out pouring of love & prayers from everyone (including people I have never had the pleasure of meeting) is an absolute blessing. I know the road ahead of me is going to be tough, but giving up isn't an option. I will fight with everything I have & then some. Please know that my family is incredibly supportive, and we are eternally grateful to each and everyone of you! You really know how to have a girls back
I plan on keeping everyone updated as much as possible on this page, so here is what we know at this time. I have invasive ductal HER2 positive +3 Stage 2 breast cancer. This type of cancer is very aggressive & grows very fast. In the beginning we were devastated by this news, but there is good in this as well. The diagnosis of HER2 positive is good in a way, because they have specific medicine to target this type of cancer. I will get a port placed in my chest tomorrow morning. This port is where they will administer my chemotherapy. I will receive a 4 chemo treatment that is 6 hours long once every 21 days for 6 treatments. I will start this treatment on Wednesday. After the 6 treatments are complete, I will have a double mastectomy and reconstruction. I will continue one of the chemo drugs called Herceptin every 21 days for one year. I know this will be tough, but I am in a good place with what needs to be done.
No worries!!! I will kick this cancer's butt & we will have a big celebration when I do!!! There are not enough thank you's in the world, but thank you thank you thank you!!! I love each & every one of you!!
