BSA Troop 283
Donation protected
Hi, we are Boy Scout Troop 283 in Newark, DE. Our Troop has been sponsored by St. Margaret of Scotland church since our inception in 2001. During this time our Troop has had the privilege of graduating 48 Eagle Scouts and has provided countless hours of service to our community. Our scouting program is supported entirely through our fundraising efforts, specifically by providing concessions at community events.
A couple of weeks ago our Troop trailer was stolen, along with some of our concession equipment. This loss will have an affect on our ability to assist with fundraising events. Our trailer was found a week later with significant damage and much of our concession lost including a new commercial 10x20 canopy, a couple of large coolers, 7 long banquet tables, several 30# propane tanks, turkey burner and pot, extension cords and misc items.
When we put the word out that our trailer was missing the response from everyone was overwhelming due to the power of social media! Not only was our trailer found thanks to someone who read about it on social media but many people have offered to help by making donations. We are grateful to everyone for their support and willingness to help. We have set a goal of $3,500.00 which is based on the estimated costs to make necessary repairs to the trailer and replace the stolen concession items. Thank you to those who shared our story and continue to support us as we strive to continue to provide the best scouting experience we can for our Troop.
Yours in Scouting,
