“As if having a brand new baby isn't enough to shake up my life... I have cancer.” - Jaime Robbins
As most of you already know, last month Jaime Robbins was diagnosed with larynx cancer three days after the birth of her beautiful son Sam. For she and her partner, Mike Soucy, life has been flipped upside down and there many unknowns that lie ahead.
The cancer is being treated aggressively with radiation and chemo at Dana Farber, which means that she will be traveling into Boston from the North Shore 5 days a week for the next 2 months. Side effects from the treatment will be significant, and they will continue for several weeks after her treatments have ended. To say the least, this road is going to be a long and challenging one.
The total cost of her medical care, transportation, lost work, and Sam's needs are more than what they can carry alone. Let's all channel our love and support into caring for their financial burden so that they can focus on what is truly important - Jaime's health and enjoying precious moments together as a family.
Any help you can offer, big or small, will make a profound difference.
To hear more in Jaime's own (raw and real), she has set up a blog: www.jaimethinksaydo.wordpress.com.
More events are in the works to raise funds and bring the community together to show support. Info will be shared here and on Facebook. Stay tuned!
In the meantime, let's get the ball rolling...
