In 2006 I was blessed with my second daughter who I didn't realize would change my life forever, my daughter was born with a heart condition called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. Which means she was born with only half of a heart. She had her first open-heart surgery at 6 days old, another at 3 months, and then a third operation at 2 years, Thing have been going fairly well up until 6 months ago. My daughter McKayla was starting to get more fatigued and tired, so they decided to do a stress test, well that stress test led to a heart cath down at the U of M in Minneapolis. After my daughter's hearth cath on September 19th, we ended up in the ICU for the night as she ended up getting to stents and two coils put in her heart. Once that was all done they wanted to do a follow-up stress test to see if that had helped any, deep down I was hoping that this would be the last intervention for my baby girl. It wasn't, the results were worse. The call I was dreading came, on October 16th, we got the phone call from the heart transplant team and they had officially put her on the list. I am a single mom with three beautiful daughters and our life is about to change. I currently can't work due to my daughter being high risk and this covid. When we get that phone call for her new heart we will have to be in the cities for two-plus months for constant follow-ups. We have anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months to wait for a new heart, She will have a central line as they will need to draw blood every other day. Once my daughter get sent home and discharged from the hospital she will be on 16 different meds two to three times a day, I will have to bring her in for frequent lab work through out the week, check her blood pressure, and all her vitals. This is not something my family and I were expecting as a year ago the doctor told us we had awhile. This covid has made it very difficult for my family to be togther during this difficult time. I just hope that I can pull up this go fund me with my daughter and she can she all the support out there and everyone that cares for her and wants her better. I am not gonna lie, I am scared and only wants best for my little girl.
