Rise Up

A single mother whose  world changed drastically in a blink of an eye! While at school her son fell during field day, which caused him to get injured. An injury that saved his life, but put more stress on hers! Long and behold her son was diagnosed with stage IV Osteosarcoma. Which is a rare form of bone cancer, and that it being stage IV it had spread to both lungs. Her son had to undergo 10 weeks of intensive chemo treatments that weighed heavy on his little body. Then underwent the biggest surgery of his life. His orthopedic team alongside the plastic surgeons had to perform limb salvage surgery to his right tibia. They
installed a growing rod as his new leg which took 8 hours 45 minutes. Next her son gotten 19 more weeks of chemotherapy. Due to being in the hospital each week from chemo, to high fevers caused by chemo, and surgeries. This mom had to leave her job to aid her son through treatments and hospital stays. As any parent would do the same for their child. A year later her son finished treatments, but his battle is not yet done. He has to get surgery on his lungs to fully be cancer free. As this mom comes to the end of this journey, she now faces another battle. She needs to put her life back together and get back on her feet. It was unexpected for this family, but her son has the courage enough to endure the suffering. We want to support this family in order to show him that he is not alone in this long journey.
