Banana Tree

Hello, we are Sarah Bui, Joe Romano, and Ben Adams! We are senior Media and Communication Majors at Muhlenberg College working together on a thesis short film for the Advanced Video Production Culmative Undergrad Experience.
STORY
Banana Tree focuses on Ann, a divorced woman who is diagnosed with brain cancer and has a difficult time deciding whether or not to proceed with treatments. Ann's Dad expects her to always consider her family first by wanting her to get treatment. For all of Ann's life, she has blamed her parents for never allowing her to make her own decisions: her career, her marriage, and now her life.
DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT:
“Can we talk about dying?” was the original idea that came to my mind when I was writing this script. Even though inevitable, death remains a taboo topic in many cultures as humans fear and are terrified of the unknown. I want to create a personal story approaching a personal decision when it comes to life and death. Through the short film, the producers and I want to ask questions about the human’s will to live, the meanings of loving and claiming one's own agency, and ultimately how we can view death differently.
BUDGET
Making a short film can be very expensive so we truly need your help to make this project happen! We start filming in April and all the funds raised for our film will go toward production costs. These include catering, location rentals, transportation, props, costumes, set design, and hair & makeup. These funds will help us create a high-quality film that our team is very passionate about. Any support is very much appreciated.
Thank you for your time and consideration. We hope you have a wonderful day!
Sincerely,
Sarah, Joe, and Ben
