Raising money for my Father's estate
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Sheana Shalvey. A few weeks ago, my father lost his long ad painful bout with gastric cancer. We found out over a year ago that he was diagnosed, and it wasn't very good from that day he came home and told me, and I cried my eyes out for him. He started treatment, and the plan was to get him strong enough for surgery to remove his stomach. I was worried about it from the beginning because how does one live a manageable life this way ?!? He was doing the chemo, and he would be down bad for about three days. Then out of nowhere, he would be so much better. He would come out of his room, play his guitars and watch movies w us. A few days later, it would be time for treatment again, and he would have to start his nightmare all over again :( I'd never seen my big strong dad knocked down so hard in my entire life. He passed at the young age of 63. He tried to make sure that his granddaughter (my daughter, whom he adored), his daughter (me) and his son Patrick Shalvey were guaranteed to be ok in the event of his passing. Sadly, things such as wills are supposed to protect your loved ones and your hard-earned money and belongings. In the heart-wrenching event of your death, it can be very tricky and misleading to a person who hasn't ever prepared one or has misleading knowledge that there are laws set in place that can literally TRUMP your wishes in the will YOU wrote, in black and white and can essentially go against your last and final wishes for your family. Maybe because you didn't word certain things correctly. You may have had a horrible illness set in so fast you may not have had time to list them as beneficiaries on that 25 year old 401K because paperwork is sent through snail mail, and things need to be witnessed and signed and notarized. Time waits for no man as they say. Therefore this is going to be a long and drawn out probate process. possibly 6-8 months. Dad thought this was going to be a cut and dry process. He was also in so much pain he didn't really want to talk or do anything besides lay in his bed. It was sad when he stopped taking anything I would bring him to eat or drink, wouldt consume anything for two weeks, it was jard to even hold a conversation with him twoards the end. He was miserable...but he would still come find my daughter to give her candy <3
In the meantime, I need to maintain the estate because it was left to me fourtunately. Unfourtunately though, I'm currently a stay at home mother and my Fiance is in the local 835 union, but they don't hold any tradeshows during the summer months for him to work on. I would truly appreciate anything that would help us in these coming summer months, anything to help my little family get through this dreaded probate process. Dad would have wanted us to be able to take care of things untill we could do it on our own with the accounts he left to us. Praying that some of the generosity he spread throughout his life comes back to help us in this tragic time. My brother and I also lost our mother in October, this is so hard without both of them. No matter what the age, the pain is the same. Glad I was able to help dad through those rough days and be by his side. GOD BLESS YOU ALL !! HE LOVES YOU ALL !!! #WANEE #SOS/BOS #IAmlocal773 #SOS/BOSFamilyband #RIPSHAWNSHALVEY #SHAWNSHALVEY
