Help Caleb Fight For His Life

On February 10, 2023, Caleb D’Amico, a junior at Drexel University, got into a motorcycle accident on his way to work. A vehicle coming in the opposite direction made a left-hand turn causing the accident. Unable to move, 911 was immediately called and Caleb was rushed to Jefferson Hospital in Torresdale via ambulance.

He had three breaks in his left leg and a broken hip. He went through a series of different surgeries on the same day. The doctors had to put rods and screws in his left leg to help it heal and screws in his hip.

After the surgery, his brain began to swell due to numerous embolisms in his brain. This caused multiple strokes in the brain. The hospital he was in was not equipped to handle this and he was airlifted to Jefferson hospital in Center City Philadelphia for brain surgery. During surgery, the doctors cut and removed the left side of Caleb's skull to allow the brain to swell.

Doctors are closely monitoring the brain swelling. Only time will tell what effect this will have on Caleb's Neurological functions, and it is unknown at the time how the leg will heal or if it will need to be redone.

Caleb has a long road ahead in the hospital. He is currently in NICU on a vent while his body responds and heals. Doctors are trying to limit all brain activity at this time.

The family is asking for prayers for a miracle and any donations you are able to provide as a gift to help the family with medical, travel, and loss of work expenses.

Caleb is on the track to finish his BS/ MS accelerated degree in Mechanical Engineering next year at Drexel University. He is currently working for Estée Lauder and is expected to do his summer internship at Exelon this March. Needless to say, this event will alter his life forever.
