Tommy Hart's Stroke Therapy
Donation protected
If you were to tell me two weeks ago that my grandfather would no longer be able to tell me he loved me or be unable to feed himself I would have told you that you were absolutely crazy , this couldn't happen to one of the strongest men I know. But, some nightmares do come true and still to my total disbelief, I'm sitting here typing this.
On November 13, 2015 - my grandfather, Tommy Hart, had a massive hemorrhagic stroke, one that only some survive. Unfortunately, the damages of this type of stroke are extreme. My grandfather can no longer speak, walk, or feed himself and is now in intensive therapy to learn how to do those things again. What is so amazing about this man, unlike many who have this type of stroke, a tumor was found in his brain so he could not have a surgery to drain the blood and swelling off his brain. This meant it was his fight to choose whether he lived or died. The odds were stacked against him, but he chose to stick it out and fight. I know he fought for all of us; his wife, children, and grandchildren. After all that has happened, he is still in such high spirits and is still the goofy man I know him to be. He's still sticking his tongue out and making faces at his little granddaughters who have come to visit him. I hope that one day he will get to talk to those granddaughters again. He has started therapy at the hospital he is in. But, once he is released from the hospital, his insurance will not cover any more therapy. Due to the high expenses of the rehab facility and the fact he did not have insurance before this tragedy, he will no longer be able to improve from his current state and will no longer be able to receive the care he now needs. No one deserves to not have a chance at continuing their fight or live their lives like this. He has come so far already and deserves to have hope and a chance. No one wants to see their loved one go through this unable to provide for someone who has always provided for others. If you were to ask anyone who knows him, they would tell you wonderful things about how he was always a giving man and always helped others. He never said no when anyone needed something and never asked for anything in return. No one ever forgot him. I know this man is a fighter and can improve so much with continued therapy if he is given the chance. These holidays are going to be so hard and we appreciate all the love given to our family. Our family continues to thank everyone for their kind words and prayers sent during such a difficult time. Finally, thank you to anyone who donates even a dollar to help me get my grandad back. Any help is appreciated .
