Help Val avoid eviction

Hey y'all, the support you've given has helped tremendously in keeping me in my apartment. I've managed to get 2 jobs to help catch back up, but it will be a bit before I get paid from them. Like many, the heat has killed my electric bill, and I've been struggling paying on that and still making rent. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Once I get this caught up I think I'll be ok.

Update as of 5/24/23: Upon the insistence of my friends, I've been convinced to increase the goal for this fundraiser. Asking for help is very hard for me and I'm already so overwhelmed by all the support, but realistically, I'm still going to be in need of rent and utilities in June as I sort things out.

Hi there, I'm Valerie. I’m a 36 year old trans woman living in Central Texas. I’m in a pretty dire situation and I'm in need of some help from my community.

I’ve been working part time and in school for the past 2 years, studying to become a machinist.

Unfortunately, my financial aid, which I was using to pay for classes as well as some living expenses, got abruptly cut off mid semester. I’ve already drained my savings.

Right now, I'm behind on rent and utilities. I need to be able to cover last month's rent and this month’s rent or I’ll be facing eviction. With my current resources, my only option would be living in my car.

Without a stable place to live, I fear for my safety as things become increasingly dangerous for trans women in Texas, and I worry about my ability to stay in classes.

I know times are tough for a lot of people, so I’m incredibly grateful for your support, and appreciate you sharing with others.

How the funds will be used: $1200 for April’s rent, $1200 for May’s rent and $100 for electricity.
