School Expenses
Hello everyone! My name is Cassandra (sandy, cassie) and I am currently a student at Washtenaw Community College for dental assisting and will transfer to U of M for hygiene. As we all know, dentistry is an expensive field and requires a lot of extra money to purchase miscellaneous things while others are a requirement. I have a job at Kroger but unfortunately it does not provide even half the amount of money that I need. I try to work about 32 hours a week on top of being in school and soon to have rotations but even working 32 hours is not enough. I have faith that things will get better but the past year or 2 has tested me mentally and emotionally. It's extremely stressful and depressing and I have no idea when I can relax and say
"OK, things will get better".
Long story short, I love to further educate myself by attending conferences around michigan and out of state. I have attended Chicago Mid - Winter conference in February of 2014, Mission of Mercy , Grand Rapids in 2014 where we provided numerous free care to patients in need. Our class is attending Chicago Mid-Winter meeting in February and I would love to attend and soak in all the information that they have to offer. We are also traveling to Indiana in April for Mission of Mercy. When there is a chance that I can broaden my horizons I have no choice but to take advantage of it. As important as this is to me it absolutely sucks when I do not have the finances I need to better myself as a young professional.
As I am approaching our clinical rotations ( Feb 3) it only stresses me out more because I know I need scrubs, shoes, business attire for meetings and other things and I know I simply will not have a fraction of it. It's hard to focus on that when I am struggling to pay for my living expenses.
If anyone can please donate and help me achieve my goals of attending these functions and having the things I desperately need, I will greatly appreciate it and will never forget those that have helped me in a time of so much struggle.
Thank you,
Cassandra
