Mark's Medical Bills

Mark Malek was recently hospitalized for a week due to pancreatitis caused by gallstones and diverticulitis. In addition to being unable to work, his doctors are continuing to do various tests and procedures to determine the extent of his medical issues. If you are able to give even a small amount, it will add up to help Mark pay for his medical bills and living expenses while he undergoes further testing. The night of September 3rd, during Dragoncon, I’d had a few nights dealing with what I thought was food poisoning, when things took a turn for the worse (ironically I’d only had one drink the whole weekend, on friday, this was all food related) I was helped to my car by my friends Jeff and Susan and after getting home, when I realized that things weren’t getting better, my roommate Matt got me to the ER. After a few tests it was determined that I had pancreatitis caused by cholelithiasis (gallstones) and diverticulitis, and my liver was working overtime to compensate. I was kept at the hospital to ride it out with fluids and antibiotics for a week, after about five days of constant pain and inability to sleep I turned a corner and was able to switch to a liquid diet and things started to improve. When released things were still touch and go and I had a weak constitution, more (milder) digestive issues, and reduced lung capacity for the next couple of weeks, things have thankfully started to normalize but I was out of commission and unable to work for a long time. A few tests have followed and I’m still waiting to hear about the status of my gallbladder and pancreas as of now, and the bills are starting to come in for the various tests and procedures.
