Help 4 Harvey

Donation protected
Hi, I’m Buzz and I’m a rescue dog and I am trying to help raise funds to help my little friend Harvey who is only 8 years old - he is very poorly and needs an operation.
Here, his mummy Nichola explains what has happened:

Harvey became poorly about 6 weeks ago with sickness and high temperature, took him to the vets and they checked him over and gave him some medication and were sent home thinking it was something he had picked up. He didn’t get any better and then after about a week he got worse so we went back and they said further tests were needed and took some bloods. This was on a Friday, I got a call just after I’d arrived at work on the Monday asking for me to bring him straight in as his calcium levels were really high and he needed monitoring. He spent the next 4 days being dropped off at the vets in the morning and collected at night while they had him on fluids flushing through his kidneys, he had a scan where they found his stomach and intestine weren’t working as they should so he was given medication to help with his. Harvey really isn’t keen on being crated so they asked me to keep him at home on the Friday to see if he would eat. He didn’t. Saturday morning I woke up and couldn’t find him, bedroom door was shut so I had a look round and found him cowering under the bed shaking really badly. Called the vets who referred me to hampdens who said bring him straight down. After half an hour I finally managed to get him to come out from under the bed and we set off to the vets. They immediately took his temperature which was really high, asked me what had been happening which had led to this and then admitted him. He spent the next 5 days there whilst they undertook lots of tests and scans. I was allowed to visit him one evening with my daughter and he just laid on my chest, he didn’t even have the strength to lift his head up, I honestly thought we were going to lose him. We went back for the next two nights to try to get him to eat but he kept refusing so once they had managed to get his temperature down
They suggested he came home to his own environment to see if that would help. He finally picked up and ate something a couple of days later. The vet them called to let us know Harvey had a tumour on his parathyroid and said it’s a tricky procedure and he would need to be seen by a specialist vet. They made the referral and we went over on Tuesday, Harvey stayed there for the day for lots more tests and they have confirmed the diagnoses. He needs an operation to remove the affected gland which will then be sent off for analysis. Generally these are benign so I’m keeping everything crossed that Harvey’s will be too. Harvey is insured but the annual amount has already been used by with the vet stays and tests he had had done. The operation he needs is £4500 and he will need to stay in for 5 nights at £500 a night. This is because there are 4 of these glands and it takes a while for the others to start working again once one is removed so he will need to stay in until his calcium level returns to normal which takes around 5 days, sometimes it is less though

Please help Harvey if you can - we would be very grateful for any donation. I want my friend back, so as we can play chase again and Nichola wants her best friend fit and well

Thank you for reading Harvey’s story
