Help a Family Rebuild After Flood

We are reaching out for help because our house was flooded during tropical storm Debbie. We filed a claim for our roof leaking on Thursday, then Friday night, after hours of torrential rain, we discovered about 4 inches of water downstairs. It was absolutely shocking. I stayed up until 2 am, my wife and I carrying stuff upstairs, trying to salvage whatever we could. She stayed up most of the night going through old family photos, attempting to save as many as she was able to. We are completely exhausted and at our wit's end.

Any donations received will go directly toward repairs so that we are able to safely stay in our home, as we don't have flood insurance and cannot afford to pay out of pocket. We have both been public servants for the entirety of our careers, so y'all know we don't have any money. My wife has been a public highschool English teacher for 24 years and I worked in public libraries for nearly 20 years. Our son is starting highschool and our daughter is going into middle school this year, so we are already stressed out. This devastation is the last thing we needed, but thus is life, right?
