K9-Caesar- A Warrior who will overcome
K9-Caesar or the big Caes as he is know by his friends and family, served the State of Vermont and Village of Bellows Falls from 2014 until his termination by the Village of Bellows Falls in April of 2020 for "costing to much".
Caesar was a skilled and highly trained police K-9 who was loved and praised by the community members he served and feared by anyone foolish enough to cause trouble inside the Village of Bellows Falls. Caesar was funded almost exclusively on private donations from community members locally and from all over the State of Vermont.
Some of Caesar's career milestones include but not limited too...
2015 helped seize 15,000 in counterfeit 100 dollars bills which was the largest counterfeit investigation in New England at the time.
2017 Co-drug/Detection team award for State of Vermont and parts of New Hampshire.
Has assisted with the seizure of over 15,000 bags of heroin and over 75,000 in forfeited money over the length of his career.
Has assisted local and federal agencies in the tracking of dangerous criminals on the run.
Although Caesar's career has had many high milestones and the streets of Bellows Falls and Vermont continued to have less and less narcotics floating around. Caesar's toughest and most difficult challenge has just begun. In late April of 2020 a small bump was discovered on Caesar's left leg around the joint on his paw. Over the next two months several different veterinarian's examined and conducted test's on Caesar. During the course of these test the bump on Caesar's leg continued to grow larger and large. It wasn't until Caesar was taken to a specialist in Burlington Vermont that the cause of the mass was discovered..... Cancer.
The cancerous mass had become so big and grown so deep inside Caesar's leg muscles that simply removing the mass was not an option. Veterinarians stated the cancerous mass would simply grow back and continue to spread throughout his body. The only option left available that would save Caesar's life was to completely amputate his left leg to prevent the cancer from spreading. Caesar underwent emergency surgery on Monday June 7th to remove his leg. Caesar then returned to his home on June 8th and is recovering from his surgery.
Though Caesar has won the battle against cancer the war is far from over. The road to recovery will be long and at times painful. If there is any three legged K-9 that is up for the challenge it is Caesar.
Though this emergency surgery saved the life of a K-9 that gave his whole life to make the community he served a better place to live. The resources provided by the Village are almost non-existent. In this era of defund the police and cut backs on resources available to police agencies. Caesar's owner/handler had to paid for the complex surgery up front with no time to save or raise money to do so. Caesar's post surgery recovery, medications, PT rehab, and prosthetic leg will all be solely on his handler to provide.
I created this page as a former coworker who has seen Caesar's detection and tracking skills up close and personnel near the end of his career. Also as a pure lover of K-9's and the scarifies they make in serving their communities. I ask anyone who has read this to donate anything they can afford and/or share this link with others so we can help Caesar get back on his own three legs after he has done so much for his State and community.
I appreciate any and all support we can get for our three legged friend. Thanks for taking the time to read thus far and God Bless!
