On October 13th, 2020, Sgt. Parmelee and K-9 Luna with the Saint Joseph County Police Department assisted in the apprehension of a wanted subject. During the apprehension, the suspect opened fire on officers. K-9 Luna was struck by gun fire from the suspect. Luna was shot in the right rear leg. Luna was rushed to a local veterinary clinic, stabilized, and then transported to North Central Veterinary Emergency Center in Westville Indiana for further treatment.
