K9 Macky needs your help.

My name is Mike Badarack and my K9 partner is Macky. I was paired with K9 Macky in 2013, and spent 5 1/2 years with him working explosive detection in Baghdad Iraq. In 2018 the Department of State came out with a policy that working dogs will be retired after their 7th birthday. When Macky was officially retired from Iraq, I adopted him and brought him home to Florida with me. K9 Macky has has served the United States and has over 100,000 documented searches in Baghdad Iraq as an explosive detection canine. Once back in the United States, K9 Macky continued his mission serving venues for Disney Cruise Lines, Carnival Cruise Lines, the New Orleans Saints, and was instrumental in demonstrating the abilities of a canine to locate explosives for all the major airlines with the new TSA third-party cargo screening program for Homeland Security. Recently K9 Macky became congested and I took him to the veterinary where he was diagnosed with sinusitis and an X-ray revealed a nasal tumor in his sinus cavity. We are currently treating him with antibiotics and a steroid treatment, however, the inflammation and possibly the growth of the tumor has pressed on his optic nerve, causing him to go blind. Our option now is radiation therapy to reduce the pressure on the optic nerve, or have surgery at the University of Florida in attempts restore his eyesight. Obviously, the MRI, radiation, therapy, or the surgery it is very expensive. If there is any way you can help, any donation would be so helpful and will be 100% used for K9 Macky’s care.
