Shawn's Fight Against Liver Cancer

UPDATE: Shawn's 7 hour surgery went well and he's now at home recovering. While awaiting pathology reports to determine his chemo treatment plan, Shawn is receiving advanced alternative therapies to treat his cancer and to stop the spread.

Just before Christmas, our family received the devastating news that our brother-in-law, Shawn, was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in his liver and colon. Our sister, Jennifer, and her family are in shock and despair as they rally behind Shawn in the fight to save his life.

Shawn is now off work as he prepares his body for the upcoming 7-hour surgery and the intense 6-month chemotherapy treatments that will follow. Jenn will take as much time off work as necessary to care for him.

Now, with significantly diminished incomes, they will undoubtedly endure a considerable financial burden with the high cost of rent, utilities, groceries, gas, and daily parking at the Calgary hospital that is 40 mins away from their home. This is sure to drain them of their savings, as they have already been told that some of the chemotherapy drugs and medical supplies most likely will not be covered under their insurance plans.

This is an extremely sad and frightening time for our dear sister and her family. Feeling helpless living so many miles away, we thought the best way to help relieve some of their financial stress is by setting up this Go Fund Me campaign to cover 6 months of living expenses and future medical bills.

It is our sincere wish to help lighten their financial stress so that Shawn can concentrate on his recovery and Jenn can focus on supporting him and keeping the family afloat.
