Milo’s Medical Bills

Donation protected
Was really hoping we did not have to do this, but here we are.
Many of you know and love our gentle 130 pound giant Milo. The one of a kind bouvier that has quickly become the honorary mayor of Nantucket.
Over the past few weeks Milo has not been feeling too great. About two weeks ago he was diagnosed with anaplasmosis. Anaplasmosis is a tick-borne disease caused by the infectious bacterial organism Anaplasma phagocytophilum. It is transmitted through bites of the deer tick.
The vet gave us a good prognosis and started him on a regime of antibiotics.
Milo had been feeling much better for about a week, then took a turn.
The vet ran some bloodwork and found his liver enzyme and gallbladder counts were way off, liver damage territory.
Within a few hours we had to rush him off island to an emergency vet.
Milo arrived at Tufts last night and began undergoing testing. They have him on fluids and intravenous antibiotics.
Imaging today did not show anything completely out of the norm for a dog with elevated liver enzyme levels. No masses or cancer have been found.
We are now awaiting results from liver and gallbladder biopsies to see exactly what is causing these raised levels.
We pray that these biopsies give us some answers.
Milo’s medical bills are quickly piling up with the fee of $1,200 a night. We are beyond thankful with any and all help to take care of Milo and make sure he continues to receive the top care at Tufts.
My Dad and Dee will go see Milo in the morning and try to get him to eat. We will keep everyone updated with any news we receive.
Praying and hoping that we get to bring Milo back home to Nantucket.
