My husband went in for dental work in December. It went horribly wrong and he ended up with two broken teeth in his mouth. He was unable to get in to the oral surgeon for a month due to all of the college students in town getting their wisdom teeth removed.
After a month with broken teeth and exposed nerves, he had oral surgery to remove the broken teeth and part of his tongue that had been damaged by the broken teeth. We thought that the worst was over, but as his mouth filled with bone spurs and he was unable to eat and nauseus he started having rapid weight loss and lost over 60 lbs. The malnutrition began to take it's toll and he developed open sores on his hand and feet and severe nerve pain in his legs.
He is no longer able to drive, work or walk very far. We have a one year old daughter and he is not able to do much for her either. He needs another oral surgery and 3-6 months after that ,when he heals, he should be able to eat again. The doctors are trying to figure out a solution to his nerve pain that is preventing him from working.
He no longer has a paycheck and our medical insurance won't cover his oral surgeries as they classify them as dental. This year has been a struggle and any help we can get would be a huge relief for our family.
