Hello my name is Elijah and I’m a lgbtq+ creative and I have been struggling keeping myself afloat as of recently leaving an abusive relationship.

I have been dealing with a stranded situation in a new city as I had to leave my homophobic household in my hometown. That was when I met my ex and things began to take a turn for the worst in the span of two months.

 

My ex was manipulative and would make it to where I felt as I couldn’t be without him by breaking my phone not once, but also twice. Two completely different phones at that. He is responsible for my stolen my wallet due to an altercation when he was around his untrustworthy friends that had all my personal info, including my Medicaid card which I need for my medicine that is vital for my health. He has threatened to kill me and himself when I would try to leave . He would berate me and keep me away from friends and family, he wouldn’t let me break up with him by threatening to take his own life and others as well, people who were also trying to help him out but he didn't want to be helped. He kept making me feel I like couldn’t leave we get into big altercations, and he would always get worst the more he broke items of mine because I was on my own in the city with one friend who did their best to help out and with my next closest family living hours away. My phone was the way I made most of my money from readings, catching uber, being in contact with everyone, and ect. I had lost my job due to him refusing to take me to work, and not letting me live due to his own insecurities.

 

I have also have been having trouble getting in and out my apartment because my wallet that he taken has my card key and I’m subleasing, so acquiring a replacement takes more time than it usually would with this apartment complex and my subleaser being out of state. At the point of us getting into this last altercation which left me in the hospital and stranded in the streets waiting for my friend to find me and pick me up, I was able to get away and go to my grandparents out of fear that he’s just gonna try to come to my place with my key. Since I’ve been with my grandparents they have been helping a lot but there is not much that they can do but help me get a new ssn, id, Medicaid card. Financial assistance is out of of their abilities.

 

I’ve been using my little sisters phone since I’ve been down here but it would be gladly appreciated if I could just get help on the rent I’m behind on from December and the upcoming January and my rent is 525 a month. It’s extremely stressful. I feel that 1,200 would be enough to help me make ends meet along with being able to get new IDs, and a change of locks.
