Dear Friends,
Please help me raise funds to bring Barry to his forever home.
For the first time ever, and against my general principles –– because we all get way too many “gimme” requests, I am initiating a GoFundMe account for Barry. A dear friend has set herself up in Kabul to rescue, vet and adopt out needy dogs and cats (and other deserving critters). She and her staff will climb into sewer or go into bombed out areas to rescue suffering animals, however wounded, and they intervene on cruelty wherever they find it –– stoning dogs “for fun” seems to be good sport. I support Kabul Small Animal Rescue, because I know every penny I give them goes to helping animals in distress and doing everything they can do to give them a new life. Working with other animal rights organizations, they save and rehome numerous cats and dogs throughout the world, including reuniting animals beloved by American soldiers back in the USA.
What’s the urgency? Recently the CDC decided to ban entry of dogs from 113 countries beginning on July 14, a ban to last for one year. Given the already tense situation in Afghanistan and the uncertainty about the realities of life in a year, the Kabul Small Animal Rescue is trying very hard to move all of their adoptable dogs out of the country.
Barry came to the Kabul Small Animal Rescue with his mom and litter mates after she gave birth to the whole litter one day after arrival. She had been found on the streets of Kabul wounded around her neck. Barry's mother and all his siblings have been adopted out. See his baby pic.
Born May 20, 2019, Barry is now a big boy of about 70 points. He's an Anatolian shepherd mix, chipped and neutered. Let’s get him to his forever home.
