Kacie's ImaniXchange Volunteer Trip
Donation protected
As someone who has always had a strong passion for women’s issues, a recent opportunity to assist with empowering women in Africa has been brought to me. This will be my first trip abroad and it will be to Mombassa, Kenya to stay with the women’s empowerment non-profit organization, ImaniXchange, from December 4th - 13th. My mission with ImaniXchange is to video/document their mission, the lives of the women and families they help, and the products these women create in order to produce a series of promotional videos that would be used in their media package for online and fundraising purposes to effectively communicate their progress and goals. While I am there, I will also be able to assist the leaders of ImaniXchange on optimizing their social media marketing and website content.
What is ImaniXchange?
ImaniXchange is a Women Empowerment Program. IXC is changing lives. One product at a time. ImaniXchange (IXC) has a main objective to provide job opportunities to single, widowed, and disadvantaged women.
In other words, the program works with women in the surrounding villages to sew handbags and other pieces of clothing that they already knew how to make, and then IXC volunteers assists with getting those products into the hands of consumers across the world. Once a supply chain has been established, they work with the women on the business component so that they can eventually become self sufficient and won't need assistance from IXC anymore. These are situations were it's primarily women as the sole supporter to their family/children.
Please visit their website for more information on that incredible non-profit, ImaniXchange: http://imanixchange.com/
What is the fundraiser paying for?
The non-profit has been kind enough to provide me with food and shelter. This fundraiser would be to help pay for my flight to Mombassa, Kenya, my work visa application, camera equipment rental, and the many shots necessary for health purposes. Any donation would be incredibly appreciated, any amount is an amazing help! If any additional money is made from the fundraiser, it will be poured directly into ImaniXchange to help their continuing support of these women in Africa and bettering their lives and the lives of their children.
"Love is not patronizing and charity isn’t about pity, it is about love. Charity and love are the same — with charity you give love, so don’t just give money but reach out your hand instead.” – Mother Teresa
Thank you for your support,
