Kaden's Cancer Journey

Kaden is 21 years old and was diagnosed with 2 types of testicular cancer (seminoma and non-seminoma) on July 7, 2023. He went for surgery on July 13th to remove cancer and was admitted to ICU with respiratory complications after surgery. He was released on the 14th after he stabilized. He went in for a PET scan on August 7th which identified the cancer was stage 2 and had metastasized to 3 of his lymph nodes. He will begin chemotherapy on August 21st. Kaden will be going to Iowa City on August 18th to harvest his sperm, as sterilization is a common side effect of chemotherapy. The procedure is not covered by insurance. Kaden is currently working at ARC full-time as custodial staff. Due to the nature of his employment and the possibility of unsanitary conditions (exposure to bacteria), he will not be able to work while receiving chemotherapy due to a compromised immune system. Kaden has been off work for the last month due to his surgical procedure and has exhausted the last of his PTO. The doctor anticipates he will be off work for the next 4 months for chemotherapy. Kaden will have no income during the next 4 months. We are asking for donations to help with the initial/ongoing cost of the sperm harvest and monthly expenses.

Kaden enjoys Anime, chess, and gaming. He is an orange belt and was working to earn his blue belt before his diagnosis. He is a dedicated hard worker and received an award for "Act of Excellence".

Kaden is a caring person who always puts others' needs before his own. He's the guy you call at 3 in the morning because you need a ride or the one to give you the last $5 in his pocket. He is an amazing kind-hearted son and friend who always has a kind word to boost your day.
