Kahlo the Assistance Dogs Cancer Treatment
Donation protected
UPDATE 2: Kahlo is in hospital undergoing scans, tests, and a lot of planning. He is starting radiation treatment on Wednesday AND will be starting chemotherapy drugs today too. They are doing everything they can to give him some more time. Unfortunately this means that our out of pocket costs have gone from £3k to… we don’t even know how much yet. But could be doubled. We will continue to fight for him and use everything we have for him. It just means that the money raised here means more than ever. Thank you again to everyone who has donated and shared we are doing everything we can for him
UPDATE: Thank you so much to everyone who has donated and shared and commented. You have no idea how much this means to me, my family and Kahlo This is beyond what we were expecting so far. Kahlo is going into the hospital on Monday morning to get full body scans and a proper plan in place! Then on Tuesday he will be going straight into radiotherapy treatments To be transparent and truthful, This is likely to be upwards of £8k. We have about £5k left on his insurance until June next year. Which means we would be paying the extra £3k for the treatments out of pocket and for any additional medications and procedures he may need the rest of the year. What we have raised so far is going to be such a huge help and I can’t thank everyone enough He is one loved Pomsky .
Hello everyone. I’ve had a lot of people ask if I could make one of these so they could help out with Kahlos cancer treatment and/or end of life care
Our names are Isla & Rhiannon. I, Rhia, am autistic and physically disabled, I have the most amazing assistance and therapy Pomsky named Kahlo He is just 4 years old and has changed my whole life as my Assistance Dog and those of countless others in his role with my mum as a Therapy Dog. He was recently been diagnosed with a pretty extreme and aggressive brain tumour which has been the biggest shock ever. We are hoping to begin radiotherapy as we can’t operate or do chemo. We have been taking him to the vets consistently for over a month and treating him, unsuccessfully, for a grass seed that had unfortunately got stuck in his eye at the same time we began to notice symptoms. We treated him for infections and swelling, and when a lump formed on his head and above his sore eye, the obvious answer was an abcess. Everything was so easily explained. The last thing anyone expected was brain tumour and not one so extensive.
The CT scan showed a massive tumour inside the skull, the “abcess” was the tumour breaking through. This means we’ve caught it very late. We can’t operate or do chemo and he has been in pain. We are still waiting to hear from specialists in Edinburgh to see if we can try radiotherapy which would be very extensive, difficult an expensive process.
The problem is we have already used a lot of our insurance limit on treating what we thought was a very simple issue. We will do everything we possibly can, we will use everything we have to help him and give him more time, And I appreciate those who are asking to help towards that
Kahlo has helped so so so many, He is who keeps me safe and helped me begin to live my life again. it’s time we give some of that back and do our absolute best to make him as comfy and loved as possible and give him the best chance. And that doesn’t have to be donating money. I’ve seen so many different religions, beliefs, prayers, spiritual rituals and crystal healings and love being sent his way which has helped us and I believe he can feel it too. He is so loved. I just wish love could heal him and take the pain away.
Thank you to everyone who loves him He’s got a lot of people power behind him. And I promise with how every much we raise either it’s £100-£1000 we will use it in his best interest and towards his love and memory
