Kai Cheng's Birthday Fundraiser for Maggie's!

Greetings dear community members and social media denizens,

I'm Kai Cheng Thom, a writer, Somatic Sex Educator, and therapeutic life/conflict coach based in tkaronto, and I'm turning 30 this year! As finally leaving my "youth" (lol) behind, I feel called to honour the resilience and brilliance of sex workers.  Sex workers have long been an undervalued and heavily marginalized group of folks in the dominant culture - yet the healing power and beauty of the sex work community is not only a great gift to the world, it has also saved my life.  

In this time of pandemic, social isolation, and economic loss, the sex work community is being hit especially hard.  Client screening, selection, and safety measures have become even more complicated for those who need to continue working in person, and the online market (which is not accessible to everyone) has also become more challenging to navigate for many.

So on my birthday (which is March 12, I'm starting a day early to accommodate the fundraising goal), I invite anyone who has the capacity and desire to celebrate the life affirming magic of the sex work community by donating to Maggie's Toronto Sex Worker Action Project (SWAP).  Maggie's has been doing revolutionary by-and-for sex worker support for many years now, and I can't say enough about how important their work is.  Nothing would make me happier than to know that this community I care so much about even a little more resourced for the times ahead.
