Kai's Top Surgery Fund

Hi! My name is Kai, I am 17 years old, and I am female-to-male transgender. I came out over two years ago, and have been on hormone replacement therapy (testosterone) for 14 months. I have been surrounded by acceptance from both my family and friends, but I still could use assistance with the fees for my top surgery.  The total surgery costs are about $7,000, and due to the fact our insurance will not cover any of it, we are asking our friends to help out with this GoFundMe page.  For trans men like myself, their chest often is the biggest source of their dysphoria. I often feel very anxious and uncomfortable with my body, and the recommended solution to this is surgery. My goal is to be able to have my surgery over the summer, so I do not have to go another summer in a binder. For those of you who do not know, a binder is a chest compression device that alleviates much of my dysphoria. However, this is not a permanent solution, and it causes several issues for me. In my binder, I have more limited movement, a significantly warmer outfit, and a fairly uncomfortable experience overall. The sooner I am able to pay for the surgery, the sooner I can get rid of it for good! I have already gone to my consultation with my surgeon, and the cost is the only step left.
