My name is Kaiden Hartley, I am a 15 yr. old freshman that attends West Monroe High School. I am a proud member of the Quapaw nation in NE, Oklahoma. Our descendants rise from John Beaver, one of the oldest known figures in the Quapaw nation. I have overcome apraxia, managed through 3 eye surgeries and now excel in my education. After overcoming several early setbacks in my teaching, my interest and determination have led me to many goals and insights. I am a straight-A student with perfect attendance and have made the Principals List for the past couple of years. I have a 3.75 GPA! I have gladly and proudly joined the JROTC at West Monroe High School. I am interested in history, current affairs, and worldwide events. This year, my academic achievements have stood out to the school and others higher up, so much so that they have selected me to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum: National Security Diplomacy, Intelligence & Defense. I will visit Washington for a week with the FBI, CIA, National Cemetery, National Zoo, the Space Museum, Naval Academy, The Smithsonian, Lincoln memorial, Vietnam memorial, and so much more. I feel that I have earned this trip a hundred times over through my hard work and determination throughout life. The trip cost is around $5000, including airfare and some out-of-pocket meal expenses I will have.
