Kaidens Kourage- stem cell treatment

Hello, We are Jenn and Derrel Barrett and we get to love this precious little guy. His name is Kaiden Wyatt Barrett and at around 3 months old his biological mother took him to the local hospital for being lethargic and not eating. Little did anyone know the horrific abuse that this baby had endured in just his 3 months on earth. He was quickly intubated and flown to Cook Children’s in Ft Worth where he was given less than 48 hours to live. His injuries were so severe there was little hope for survival, and if he did survive his quality of life was grim. Multiple fractures, millimeters from being internally decapitated, retinal hemorrhages, brain bleeds, a stroke as a result of the shaking, strangulation, and choking, abrasions, bruises too numerous to count.

At just shy of 6 months old, Kaiden came to live with us and just 6 months later he was legally adopted.

This little guy is a fighter, hence we named him Kaiden. He kept fighting and proving the medical professionals wrong. With every, “he will never” he very much as shown them different.

We are raising money to help pay for Stem Cell treatments that could give him the BEST quality of life. The treatment that we are seeking is a highly recommend. HOST is located in Monterey, Mexico. We are scheduled for July 22 to arrive and treatment will start on the 23rd. Kaiden and mom will be there for 1 week while undergoing the process of stem cell. When we return home, he will undergo 4-6 weeks of intensive therapies to teach the new cells.

We cannot do this without help. Any amount is a bit closer to getting us there.

 

Most recent picture from an appointment at Cook Children’s where we were fitted for our hand splints, leg braces, and special trunk control suit that will hopefully help him not be so floppy!!

We have decided to move his treatments to the end of September due to slowly weaning off of a medication and we want this treatment to be the most successful that it can be!!
