Kailash (Kevin) Banani Memorial Educational Fund
Donation protected
On January 4, 2019, on the eve of his daughter's eighth birthday, Kailash Banani was brutally murdered. Kailash's (Kevin) death left behind a wife, two daughters, and a community of friends and family in mourning.
Kailash arrived in the United States 25 years ago with empty pockets, but filled with hopes and dreams. While he achieved success with his hard work, wit, and kindness, he lived for his family, friends, laughter, and the beach, always saying, "you can't take it with you when you go."
In the wake of this tragedy, friends and family came together to ask how we can best support Kailash's wife and daughters in the coming years, while best honoring his spirit and life's dedication to his family.
The Kailash Banani Memorial Education Fund will go directly into a savings account to support his 2 daughters, Jiya and Pari, with:
- Ongoing Education Fees for elementary through high school Target: $20,000
- College Scholarship Funds Target: $80,000
Thank you for helping us support Ria, Jiya, and Pari as they rebuild their lives.
Who We Are
The Banani Family has been dedicated to the St.Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands community through volunteerism, philanthropy, service, and great compassion. Growing up in India, Kailash understood the importance of education and how that can transform a person's life; he and Ria dedicated their lives to ensuring their daughters had access to quality education and valued service.
It is our intention that we carry on this family tradition. In India and many parts of the Caribbean, a sign of respect is to call our family friends 'auntie' and 'uncle'.
This GoFundMe is from the Aunties and Uncles of the Banani Family. In the wake of violence, may we all come together in support and love.
