A student in our Bluffton community received some devastating news.
On January 17, 2023 doctors discovered Kailey has a brain tumor after her hand went numb at school. Teachers and coaches also noticed a regression in memory and personality. After some tests, they discovered that the tumor is cancerous, and she began radiation on March 6th which is their first course for treatment. She has also been taking chemo pills at night to combat the cancer. She attends PT, OT, and Speech while getting treatments daily.
Kailey is only in the 8th grade. She should be worrying about finishing up middle school and preparing for High School. She should be worrying about cheer tryouts, not when her hair will fall out from the medicine. It is heartbreaking to watch her become subconscious about these things when she used to be so bubbly.
She has a long road ahead of her, but we want her to know she has a huge support system. Any help with medical bills is greatly appreciated.
