Kai's Growth Plate Surgery

Kai (fka Ozzie) found himself on the euthanasia list at BARC because he had a nasty fracture on his front left epiphysis (growth plate). At only 10 months old, Kai has so much more life to live and euthanasia nor amputation was an option for us. We quickly got a quote for his surgery from a board-certified orthopedist and decided to tag him at BARC, save his life, and save his leg. However, this path for Kai, while it will provide him with a normal life due to the good prognosis of surgery, it is extremely costly for a new rescue. The quote given was $4,100. They need to order a specific growth plate and pins to connect his tissues to since his current growth plate is too fractured.

A large vet bill like this will force us to pause any future intake until we can fundraise to cover his surgery.
