Help Local 39 Strikers - Dec 20th is last day
Donation protected
Thank you for visiting our GoFundMe! This fundraiser is for our co-workers, the 50 Kaiser IUOE Local 39 members currently on strike in Walnut Creek, Antioch and Martinez (there are other GoFundMe's active for other Kaiser locations. There are over 700 Engineers total on strike). The organizers are Vicki, a Social Worker, and Scott, a Stationary Engineer (more details below).
The Stationary Engineers and BioMedical Engineers have been on strike and have not received a paycheck since 9/18/21 when a new contract could not be reached with Kaiser. The Union's strike fund has been depleted so they need our help! Any amount you can contribute is appreciated but also we really need people to share this within their networks.
Can't make a contribution? We understand, times are tough right now. Here are some other things you can do to support:
-Visit the strike line, grab a sign, walk the line for your lunch break, or before or after work, or even on your day off
-Stop by the strike line for a few minutes to offer some friendly words of encouragement
-Honk, smile and wave as you drive by the strike line
-Drop off some bottled waters to the strike line
-Share share share! Share the link to this fundraiser on your social media, text messages, emails, ect.
MORE DETAILS:
IUOE Local 39 Engineers and BioMeds are the backbone of the buildings and equipment that we work in and around every day. On September 18th, 2021, all Northern California Kaiser Local 39 members voted to walk out of all Nor Cal Kaiser facilities when their old contract expired and a new contract was not reached. These Engineers and BioMeds have been on the strike lines every day, 24/7, since then at all the major Northern California Kaiser facilities. Despite several mediated meetings there has still been no new contract.
After 90 days of 24/7 striking they are exhausted mentally, physically, and emotionally and need help.

This strike is in it's third month. The strikers have not had a paycheck in over a month. The Union's "Strike Fund" provided some financial relief for the first month but this fund is now depleted. But strike fund or not these steadfast Engineers and BioMeds are determined to stand their ground until a contract is reached.
The people standing on the strike line find hope and encouragement in the people who support them and I hope that we can all come together and find it in our hearts to give just a little which will mean so much.
