Kaitlin Legg's Ongoing Medical Expenses

My name is Ernie and I am fundraising for my twin, Kaitlin. On April 14, 2023, Kaitlin experienced a freak accident at their local CrossFit gym. In a split second, Kaitlin sustained a horrific life-threatening traumatic brain injury with long-term consequences and impact. The result was multiple skull fractures, brain and facial nerve damage, organ damage, hearing loss, vision impairment, and more. Miraculously, Kaitlin is still able to talk, read, and exercise.

As time has gone by, Kaitlin has worked hard in physical therapy and experienced improvement, but permanent damage has been done. The full extent of the long-term impact related to their injuries is still not known. Kaitlin has had to decrease their hours at work and severely limit their daily activities. Kaitlin also came to the sad realization that they needed to take a leave of absence from their PhD program, and may need to drop-out altogether.

Kaitlin has been failed countless times in countless ways by the healthcare system. Currently, they are

experiencing mysterious chronic and new/emerging symptoms related to this injury, which has them

being bounced around from one specialist to another with no end in sight. As you can imagine, this gets

very expensive.

After Kaitlin's injury, so many of you asked how to help. At the time, things were handled; we had no

idea of the extent of appointments and testing Kaitlin would need to undergo with primary care,

specialists, and physical/occupational therapy. We are now asking for the community's help to set aside

funds for Kaitlin's ongoing medical treatment and health care expenses.
