UPDATE: Her cancer is stage 3, she finished her rounds of IV chemo, she had an appointment Tuesday (Sept. 26th) to see if the chemo was working and it is, its shrinking. She is starting radiation late October and also chemo pills but will need to travel from Shubenacadie to Halifax 5 times a week for atleast 5 weeks for the radiation treatments. She is already struggling physically and financially, and is worried about the additional costs of gas, bridge fees, & hospital parking while keeping up with rent & not being able to work. She is extremely greatful for everyone who has donated. Nothing is expected but anything and everything is very much appreciated. ❤️

Hi, my name is Cassidy and I'm starting this fundraiser for my cousin Kaitlin MacKenzie who was recently diagnosed with rectal cancer. She is 35 and has 2 children under the age of 10 and is worried about taking time off for treatment because she can't afford to miss work.

She had an MRI last Thursday and it has spread to her lymph nodes, she's just waiting to see an oncologist to know what stage it is & be given treatment plan.

She was told she will likely have chemotherapy, and surgery if it isn't too late to operate. If they do surgery, she will need to wear a colostomy bag for the rest of her life.

It would be great if she didn't have to worry about food/rent/gas, and supplies for her stoma/colostomy bag if she has surgery.

She has a hard fight ahead of her and will need lots of time with her family, and any bit of support will help.
