Help Kaitlyn Fight Cancer!
Hey! We’re Alison, Alli, Chelsea, and Erin. Formerly Penn Staters, formerly roommates, formerly on ABC Family, and formerly a cancer-free friend group.
On August 4, 2016 (2 weeks before her birthday) our friend Kaitlyn was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer. This type of cancer is very rare, especially for someone her age, and often goes undetected until it's at an advanced stage. Luckily, Kaitlyn felt the symptoms and got surgery while she was still at Stage I.
Kaitlyn's surgery removed a potato-sized tumor and approximately half her reproductive system. That’s where this crazy journey began.
At the ripe old age of 23, Kaitlyn had to start taking fertility drugs (some of us had the privilege of sticking the needle in her stomach) and freeze her eggs. A month earlier, the biggest decision she had to make was white, red, or rosé. Then suddenly she was harvesting 50% of the DNA of her future children. (When it comes time for a baby shower, we’re thinking Frozen-themed.)
You can never really predict what’s going to happen in life, which is what brings us to this GoFundMe page. It’s no surprise that chemotherapy is pricey, and insurance doesn't cover everything. We don’t think it’s fair that Kaitlyn is stuck with thousands of dollars in medical bills because she grew a tumor on her ovary just to get a couple months off of work.
If you know Kaitlyn, you know she's been active in raising money for cancer research. She spent most of her college career participating in THON, the largest student-run philanthropy in the world, which raises money for pediatric cancer research and treatment.
We and the Doherty family would really appreciate any and all donations to pay for the cost of chemo that insurance didn't cover. Kaitlyn’s life has been turned upside down these last three months, and the stress of paying medical bills is the last thing she should be dealing with.

From all of us, THANK YOU for your time and support.
If, by some miracle, we raise more than enough to cover Kaitlyn's chemo costs, the remaining funds will go to her egg freezing storage fee.
