Kaitlyn is a 16 year old girl from St.Petersburg Fl and she was just diagnosed with hodgkin’s lymphoma. Kaitlyn had been having nose bleeds for the past four months and then one day woke up with part of her face swollen, so off to the pediatrician they went. Her doctor being unsure of what caused all of this requested blood work. After the results were in the pediatrician immediately called her parents (Kathleen and Robert Grainger) and said to admit her to hospital. While she was there they said they were going to do a chest CT, which confused Kaitlyn, because what did this have to do with her face? Come to find out she has a lump the size of an egg on her lung, this is when Kaitlyn found out she has hodgkin’s lymphoma. Kaitlyn is the youngest of 3 kids, Dakota (her oldest brother) and Colton(her second oldest brother)In the fall she was supposed to be attending St. Petersburg College to then graduate in two years with her high school diploma as well as her AA degree, but now she will have to put off school for at least a semester until she is well again. In her spare time she plays volleyball and hangs out with friends. She is hard working, she attends school as well as works at a local Panera Bread and volunteers at her church. She will soon be starting chemo therapy and heading towards the road of recovery.
