Please join us in rallying behind our beautiful Kala as she takes on cancer for the second time. Mummy to Bonnie, partner to Jason, and the kindest daughter, sister and friend to all.
Kala’s fight began in May 2021, at the age of 26, with a diagnosis of stage 3 breast cancer. Her daughter, Bonnie, was just 14 months old at the time. After several long and tiresome rounds of chemotherapy, radiation and surgeries, in January 2022 Kala had been given the news we’d all been praying for — she was cancer free.
In January 2023 the unimaginable happened. With the discovery of a new mass came a diagnosis of stage 4 breast cancer. Following regular routine check ups, the shock of a terminal diagnosis has been incomprehensible. A PET scan has revealed cancer has spread throughout Kala’s upper body and her medical team have indicated a statistic of some 50% survival rate of 12+ months. The fight begins now.
Kala began aggressive chemotherapy in February and is expected to continue treatment indefinitely. Her treatment plan includes a drug new to the Australian market and we are hopeful that this will have successful outcomes.
While Kala fights for her health, we are fighting for her finances. Kala has big plans for 2023 and getting married and travelling New Zealand are top of this list. We are determined to see her fulfil these dreams while she is well. Please dig deep and donate to join us in supporting Kala, Jason and little Bonnie.
