Kalal Family Fundraiser
Donation protected
Clara Kalal, a paraprofessional at Kidder’s branch of Bright Beginnings Preschool, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia on August 6th this year. Just 6 days before her 39th birthday. Clara has endured many ups and downs during her treatment, including the fact that her 100% donor match backed out. This left her in quite a predicament because she was already given her chemo that cleared every part of her DNA. Luckily her youngest sister, Jennifer Higginbotham, stepped in and donated her marrow for Clara.
Clara is currently going through her "critical 100 days after the transplant." After these 100 days, she will know if her body has accepted this new DNA and marrow, and it can start to grow. One thing she realized during this time is how important family and friends are, she states; “People are coming out of everywhere to help us. I am so proud to come from such an amazing family, and to be married to the best person that I know, with some of the greatest kids around.”
During this process, Clara has had to leave a job she truly loved. Her husband has had to take time off work to care for their three children while Clara was in the hospital and to take Clara to her many doctor's appointments downtown. We have set this page up to alleviate the financial burden of lost wages and many hospital bills. There will be a Kalal Family Fundraiser March 6, with the gracious generosity of friends and family it will be a sold out success. This page is also for those who are unable to participate in the event but wish to make a donation. As always, the Kalal family thanks all of you for your love and support during this time.
